Municipal Codes

The City of PVE has various Municipal Codes that are intended to help protect and preserve Parklands, as well as other city owned open space, including Paths and passive Lanes. The most applicable are: 

  • Chapter 12.24: Parks

It includes several subsections covering; Closure of Grounds, Horses, Performing of Labor, Peddling and Vending, Deposit of Rubbish, Disorderly Conduct, Bathing, Pollution of Waters, Parental Responsibility, Group Gatherings, Injuring Plant Life, Removing Plant Life and Vandalizing Buildings and Fixtures,

Of course, besides having appropriate laws to protect Parklands and the trail system to and control activities thereon, there needs to be adequate enforcement and oversight. One of the reasons there have been issues on Parklands and trails is simply because there hasn't been adequate enforcement. Creating new policies and regulations may also not be particularly helpful unless there is appropriate enforcement and community support.
